MCMF Director Diana Stork and Bay Area Youth Harp Ensemble Alumna Amelia Romano headed to Calistoga, CA on April 25 – 28 to give educational programs and performances to hundreds of students and concert attendees in the town. They gave hour-long “History of the Harp” lecture-demonstrations to attentive students and teachers in the Calistoga Elementary, Junior, and High Schools. Many good questions were asked, and an interest was kindled for the harp. Additional performances were given in hotels and senior centers. Diana gave a free “Learn to play the Harp” class in the High School music room that was attended by dozens of people—young and old. Diana and Amelia feel that Calistoga holds a special interest for the harp; and they look forward to returning to teach and give more performances in the coming months and years. Many thanks to Band Leader Nina Pedersen, and Michelle Hickman, members of the Calistoga Music Boosters Club for all their efforts to bring the harps to Calistoga!
